Steve Shin is a Deputy Legislative Counsel. He joined the office in 2021.

Mr. Shin is assigned to a branch of the office that handles laws relating to courts, criminal law, estates and trusts, family law, gaming, health and care facilities, health care service plans, health insurance, insurance, juveniles, Medi-Cal, military and veterans, prevailing wage, public health, public social services, vehicles, and workers’ compensation.

Prior to joining the office, Mr. Shin worked as an attorney for the Workers’ Compensation Appeals Board.

Mr. Shin received his law degree from the UC College of the Law, San Francisco. He earned his undergraduate degree in history from Emory University.

Mr. Shin is a member of the California State Bar.
