Paul B. Arata is a Deputy Legislative Counsel. He joined the office in 2016.

Mr. Arata is assigned to the Legislative Services Branch. This branch is responsible for advising Members and legislative staff on legislative procedure, appropriations and the state budget, the Political Reform Act of 1974, election law, litigation, personnel issues, and other legislative matters, and for drafting contracts and leases

Prior to joining the office, Mr. Arata worked as a research assistant at UCLA School of Law, and as an intern for the Office of Legislative Counsel.

Mr. Arata received his J.D. from UCLA School of Law, where he was senior editor for the Journal of Environmental Law and Policy. He earned his undergraduate degree from UCLA, with a Bachelor of Arts in history.

Mr. Arata is a member of the California State Bar.
