Brendan LaFountain is a Deputy Legislative Counsel. He joined the office in 2026.
Mr. LaFountain is assigned to a branch of the office that handles laws relating to alcoholic beverage control, business, civil law, financial institutions, healing arts, housing and community development, land use, local government, private employment, professions and vocations, public contracts, public employment, retirement, state government, taxation and unemployment insurance.
Prior to joining the office, Mr. LaFountain worked in private practice as a senior associate, serving as bond counsel and disclosure counsel for several California governmental bond issuers.
Mr. LaFountain received his J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center, where he served as managing editor of The Tax Lawyer. Mr. LaFountain earned his undergraduate degree in business administration from Georgetown University, where he graduated summa cum laude and earned class valedictorian honors from the McDonough School of Business.
Mr. LaFountain is a member of the California State Bar.
