Arthur Demerath is a Deputy Legislative Counsel. He joined the office in 2024.

Mr. Demerath is assigned to a branch of the office that handles laws relating to alcoholic beverage control, business, civil law, financial institutions, healing arts, housing and community development, land use, local government, private employment, professions and vocations, public contracts, public employment, retirement, state government, taxation, and unemployment insurance.

Prior to joining the office, Mr. Demerath was a legal extern with the State Franchise Tax Board Tax Appeal Assistance Program. He was also a legal intern with the Children’s Law Center in Sacramento.    

Mr. Demerath received his J.D. from the University of California, Davis School of Law, with certificates in Tax and Business Law. He earned his undergraduate degree in mathematics from the University of California, Irvine.  

Mr. Demerath is a member of the California State Bar.
