Matt Urban is a Deputy Legislative Counsel. He joined the office in 2022.
Mr. Urban is assigned to a branch of the office that handles laws relating to alcoholic beverage control, business, civil law, financial institutions, healing arts, housing and community development, land use, local government, private employment, professions and vocations, public contracts, public employment, retirement, state government, taxation and unemployment insurance.
Prior to joining the office, Mr. Urban worked as a legal student assistant at the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation and as a software developer at a private firm.
Mr. Urban received his J.D. from the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law, where he graduated co-valedictorian and served as Chief Articles & Symposium Editor at the University of the Pacific Law Review. Mr. Urban has a bachelor’s degree in fine arts from New York University, Tisch School of the Arts.
Mr. Urban is a member of the California State Bar.
