Matthew Morehouse is a Deputy Legislative Counsel. He joined the office in 2022.

Mr. Morehouse is assigned to a branch of the office that handles laws relating to courts, criminal law, estates and trusts, family law, gaming, health and care facilities, health care service plans, health insurance, insurance, juveniles, Medi-Cal, military and veterans, prevailing wage, public health, public social services, vehicles, and workers’ compensation.

Prior to joining the office, Mr. Morehouse worked as a certified law student at the University of California, Davis School of Law’s Civil Rights Clinic, and served as a law clerk for Legal Services of Northern California in Chico, California. He also clerked for the firm Jacobson Markham. During law school, he was a senior notes and comments editor for the UC Davis Law Review.

Mr. Morehouse received his J.D. from the University of California, Davis School of Law. He earned an undergraduate degree in international relations from California State University, Chico.

Mr. Morehouse is a member of the California State Bar.
