Peter Ackeret is a Deputy Legislative Counsel. He joined the office in 2022.

Mr. Ackeret is assigned to a branch of the office that handles laws relating to air resources, elementary and secondary education, fish and wildlife, food and agriculture, harbors and navigation, hazardous materials, postsecondary education, public resources, public safety, public utilities, solid waste, streets and highways, transportation, and water.

Before joining the office, Mr. Ackeret worked as a deputy attorney at the California Department of Transportation, where he handled tort litigation, construction arbitration, and other transportation-related matters. This followed service as a legislative analyst with the Governor’s Office of Planning and Research.

Mr. Ackeret received his J.D. from the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law in Sacramento. He has a bachelor’s degree in business administration from California State University, Sacramento.

Mr. Ackeret is a member of the California State Bar.
