Katherine Vazquez is a Deputy Legislative Counsel. She joined the office in 2021.

Ms. Vazquez is assigned to a branch of the office that handles laws relating to courts, criminal law, estates and trusts, family law, gaming, health and care facilities, health care service plans, health insurance, insurance, juveniles, Medi-Cal, military and veterans, prevailing wage, public health, public social services, vehicles, and workers’ compensation.

Prior to joining the office, Ms. Vazquez worked as a law clerk at an immigration firm. She was also a law clerk for Southwestern’s Removal Defense Clinic, an intern at the Office of Legislative Counsel, and an extern for the Honorable Magistrate Judge Karen Stevenson of the United States District Court for the Central District of California.

Ms. Vazquez received her J.D. from Southwestern Law School, where she was Senior Articles Editor of the Southwestern Journal of International Law. She earned her undergraduate degree in English, Rhetoric and Composition, from California State University, Long Beach.

Ms. Vazquez is a member of the California State Bar.
