Daniela N. Lopez-Garcia is a deputy legislative counsel. She joined the office in 2018.

Ms. Garcia is assigned to a branch of the office that handles laws relating to courts, criminal law and procedure, estates and trusts, family law, gaming, health and care facilities, health care service plans, health insurance, insurance, juveniles, Medi-Cal, military and veterans, and workers' compensation.

Prior to joining the office, Ms. Garcia served as a house counsel at the California Department of Health Care Services, which is responsible for administering the California Medicaid Program that provides Californians with access to affordable, integrated, high quality health care. She also worked as a manager and program analyst at the department prior to her transition into the role of house counsel.

Ms. Garcia received her J.D. from the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law. She also earned a master's degree in public administration, with an emphasis in health services administration, from the University of San Francisco. She earned her undergraduate degree from the University of San Francisco, majoring in politics and theology and religious studies.

Ms. Garcia is a member of the California State Bar.
