The Legal Division is comprised of over 80 attorney positions which range from the entry-level Graduate Legal Assistant classification up through the Deputy Legislative Counsel IV in the non-supervisory ranks, and in three different supervisory/managerial classifications from Principal Deputy Legislative Counsel I up through Chief Deputy Legislative Counsel.

Legal Support

The legal support staff in the Office of Legislative Counsel perform a variety of professional, technical, and clerical functions in support of the Office's legal operations in the following general areas:

Paralegals: These staff are classified as Legal Analyst and Senior Legal Analyst.

Indexing: These professional staff are classified as Law Indexers.

Library: Staffed by a Supervising Librarian I, Librarian, an Office Technician and Office Assistants.

General Office: Legal Support Supervisors supervise a large staff of Senior Legal Typists, Office Technicians, Office Assistants, and Legislative Clerks.

Information Technology

The Legislative Data Center (LDC) has over 300 professional and technical information technology rank-and-file and managerial positions. The LDC has established its own department-specific classification structure. However, these classifications are aligned with all of the servicewide information technology classifications within the State such as Programmer Analyst, Systems Software Specialist, Information Systems Analyst, Data Processing Manager, Computer Operator, and Information Systems Technician. The LDC also has a small clerical support staff comprised of Office Technicians, Office Assistants, and Legislative Clerks.
