Kendra Nielsen, who joined the office in 2007, is a supervisor of a branch of the office that handles laws relating to alcoholic beverage control, business, civil law, financial institutions, healing arts, housing and community development, land use, local government, private employment, professions and vocations, public contracts, public employment, retirement, state government, taxation and unemployment insurance.
Ms. Nielsen was previously a deputy assigned to a branch that handles criminal law, family law, juveniles, courts, gaming, public health and social services, health and care facilities, insurance and health care coverage, professions and vocations, vehicles, and workers' compensation.
She also previously worked in the areas of public employment and retirement law and assisted in the drafting of major pension reform legislation.
Prior to joining the office, Ms. Nielsen was a law clerk for the Honorable Curtis V. Gomez, Chief Judge for the District Court of the U.S. Virgin Islands. She was also a law clerk for the Technical Assistance Legal Center, a project of the Public Health Institute.
Ms. Nielsen received her J.D. from the University of California, Berkeley, Boalt Hall, where she served as Supervising Editor of the California Law Review. She earned her undergraduate degree from the University of California, San Diego.
