Alex Hirsch is a deputy legislative counsel. He joined the office in 2014.
Mr. Hirsch is assigned to a branch of the office that handles laws relating to courts, criminal law, estates and trusts, family law, gaming, health and care facilities, health care service plans, health insurance, insurance, juveniles, Medi-Cal, military and veterans, prevailing wage, public health, public social services, vehicles, and workers’ compensation.
Prior to joining the office, Mr. Hirsch volunteered with the Office of Governor Jerry Brown. He also was a certified legal intern with the Sacramento County District Attorney's Office and a student law clerk for the United States Attorney's office for the Eastern District of California.
Mr. Hirsch received his J.D. from the University of California, Davis, King Hall School of Law, where he earned the Public Service Certificate. While attending King Hall, he was the Senior Articles Editor for the UC Davis Law Review and the Competitions Chair for the UC Davis Moot Court Board. He earned his undergraduate degree from the University of California, Berkeley, with a B.A. in Political Science, where he graduated with highest honors.
Mr. Hirsch is a member of the California State Bar and the Order of Barristers.
