Amy Schweitzer is a deputy legislative counsel. She first joined the office in 2007 and returned in 2013.
Ms. Schweitzer is assigned to the Opinion Branch which develops and presents, either in written or oral form, the formal legal opinions of the Office of Legislative Counsel.
Previously, Ms. Schweitzer was assigned to a branch of the office that handles laws relating to criminal law, family law, juveniles, courts, gaming, public health and social services, health and care facilities, insurance and health care coverage, professions and vocations, vehicles, and workers’ compensation.
Prior to joining the office, Ms. Schweitzer was a Staff Attorney with California Advocates for Nursing Home Reform.
Ms. Schweitzer received her J.D. from the University of San Diego School of Law where she was a member of the San Diego Law Review. She earned her undergraduate degree in English from Georgetown University.
Ms. Schweitzer is a member of the California State Bar.
