Nathaniel W. Grader is a deputy legislative counsel. He joined the office in 2012.

Mr. Grader is assigned to a branch of the office that handles laws relating to air resources, elementary and secondary education, fish and wildlife, food and agriculture, harbors and navigation, hazardous materials, postsecondary education, public resources, public safety, public utilities, solid waste, streets and highways, transportation, and water.  He practices primarily in the areas of fish and wildlife, transportation, and public utilities.

Prior to joining the office, Mr. Grader worked as an extern at the California Natural Resources Agency and as an extern at the Office of Legislative Counsel.

Mr. Grader received his J.D. from the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law, where he graduated with distinction and is a member of the Order of the Coif. He earned a masters degree in history from the University of Toronto and his undergraduate degree in history from the University of California, Davis.

Mr. Grader is a member of the California State Bar.
