Rachelle Weed is a deputy legislative counsel. She joined the office in 2006.

Ms. Weed is assigned to a branch in the office that handles laws relating to courts, criminal law, estates and trust, family law, gaming, health and care facilities, health care service plans, health insurance, insurance, juveniles, Medi-Cal, military and veterans, prevailing wage, public health, public social services, vehicles, and workers' compensation.

She has represented the office and lectured in Ukraine in 2012 and in the Republic of Armenia in 2015 as part of the Professional Fellows Program administered by the nonprofit American Councils for International Education organization, which is funded by the U.S. Department of State.

Ms. Weed received the office's Capitol Award in December 2015.

Prior to joining the office, Ms. Weed served as a law clerk in the United States Bankruptcy Court, Eastern District of California. Prior to clerking in the Bankruptcy Court, she practiced litigation in Chicago, Illinois and served as a law clerk in the Illinois Appellate Courts.

Ms. Weed received her J.D. from The John Marshall Law School in Chicago, llinois, where she graduated magna cum laude and was a staff editor of the John Marshall Law Review. She earned her undergraduate degree in telecommunications from California State University, Chico.

Ms. Weed is a member of the California State Bar.
