Byron Damiani is a deputy legislative counsel. He joined the office in 1997.

Mr. Damiani is assigned to a branch of the office that handles laws relating to courts, criminal law, estates and trusts, family law, gaming, health and care facilities, health care service plans, health insurance, insurance, juveniles, Medi-Cal, military and veterans, prevailing wage, public health, public social services, vehicles, and workers’ compensation.

During Mr. Damiani's tenure with the office, he has worked on firearms legislation, including the Aroner-Scott-Hayden Firearms Safety Act of 1999 and the California Law Revision Commission's reorganization of the deadly weapons statutes in 2010.

Prior to joining the office, Mr. Damiani was a deputy city attorney in the Sacramento City Attorney's office. He also worked in private practice in litigation.

Mr. Damiani received his J.D. from the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law, where he was awarded the Order of the Coif and was a member of the Traynor Honor Society. Mr. Damiani received his undergraduate degree from the University of California, Davis.

Mr. Damiani is a member of the California State Bar.
